The Bowmaker

This watercolor is one of my favorites.  My good friend Dan Beckwith is known as Hatchetbow Dan because of his excellent skill  at making bows using only a hatchet.  I love the play of light on this subject as he intently chops out a masterpiece. The Bowmaker

Autumn Road

This is a recent watercolor that I did using materials that I learned about from Fred Graff, whose watercolor workshop I attended last spring (2012).  It is painted on a plastic type paper called YUPO.  The paint is applied rather heavily--somewhat like oil.  It smears and drips and has a mind of its own, but the results are sometimes striking. Urbanicity II

This is a small acrylic painting that I did in sepia monocolor.  It was selected for the Small Works Show of the Artists' Guild Gallery of Greenville, SC.  I liked the random angles and light shades of urban rooftops that this painting revealed and the montone color seemed to contribute to the overall feeling of crowdedness of an urban scene.  This painting appears in another form elsewhere on this site under the title URBANICITY I Urbanicity II
